There's a movement afoot to pass legislation in several U.S. states that would prohibit courts from applying Shari'a law. To some, this is unconstitutional persecution targeting a specific religion. To others, it is ensuring the separation of mosque and state.

Wherever Shari'a law has been implemented elsewhere in the world, fundamental human rights have been abrogated. Literal eye-for-eye draconian penalties are meted out and women are treated as chattel.
