French Legal System Intimidated by Islam in Marseilles: Police Trade Union Complains About Lenient Treatment of Burka Woman Who Tried to Start Riot

The Alliance trade union (second peace officer trade union) expressed its astonishment today at the response of the judiciary in the case of the veiled woman arrested the day before yesterday in Marseilles for incitement to riot and insulting agents of public order.

"What signal is sent by the justice system to a person like this woman, who incites a riot and insults officers, when she isn't summoned to appear in court until December? Do we need to wait till our colleagues, who are just applying the law, are wounded before the justice system finally deigns to protect them?" David Olivier-Reverdy, regional delegate of the police trade union, said indignantly to the AFP.

"Alliance Police Nationale and our colleagues are wondering why this person who openly flouts the laws of the republic wasn't summoned to appear immediately," he added, demanding "the indispensable support of judicial authority."

Stopped by a police bicycle patrol, the mother of a family, dressed in a niqab leaving only her eyes visible, refused to comply with the identity check the day before yesterday while saying she would keep on her veil, before demanding that passers-by attack the police.

Placed in detention in the Centre division, she then uttered several insults to the officers and this native of Montbéliard said she regretted being born in France.

Several Muslim associations, particularly in Marseilles, have declared themselves willing to pay the fines of veiled women who are stopped by the police, who are said to have been given instructions to act with discernment to avoid throwing oil on the fire. Thus, fewer than six cases have been recorded in the centre of Marseilles since the start of the year, according to a source close to the inquiry.

So French police have been given orders to pursue a softly-softly approach to doing burka checks - essentially they have been told to only enforce the law in extreme cases. Muslims are openly flouting the law in Marseilles, and the French police are doing almost nothing. On the rare occasions that they do do something, the judicial system doesn't back them up. This is the same kind of dhimmi justice that we are now seeing manifest itself throughout Europe.

It is interesting that this Muslim woman tried to start an anti-police riot, like the Muslim man I posted about not long ago who told French police he could start a riot in two minutes if they didn't back off. Muslims are sensing their growing domination in France. They are no longer intimidated by the forces of order. Intimidation is operating the other way around.
