Maher Tears into PC Liberals: Where's Your Outrage on Violent, Oppressive Islam?
by Josh Feldman https://www.legal-project.org/4321/maher-tears-into-pc-liberals-where-your-outrage Bill Maher may agree with the left on a lot, but one thing that bothers him is constantly-outraged liberals staying silent on Islamic atrocities. Maher said it's ridiculous for President Obama to claim ISIS isn't Islamic, because looking at the actual beliefs of ISIS and many Muslims around the world shows that much of Islam "has too much in common with ISIS." Maher tore into liberal ideas of multiculturalism and non-judgment when it comes to whether certain belief systems are better. Maher said of course "liberal Western culture" is better than horrid theocracies where people's rights are threatened every single day. Because for all the ways Maher and others might insult Christianity, none of them are receiving death threats in response. If you consider yourself a liberal, Maher argued, you have to "stand up for liberal principles" like free speech, freedom to practice religion or lack thereof, respect for minorities, and equality for women. And what really ticked Maher off is that liberals "go nuts over the tiniest violations of these values" like when it's Donald Sterling or Rush Limbaugh saying stupid things, but actual physical abuse, like mutilations and honor killings, receive silence from the tolerant left. The importance of the MEF's Legal Project in reclaiming free expression and political discourse ... cannot be overestimated." — Geert Wilders, September 29, 2011 |
